We had our FIRST service of the year for 2009!
Like what Pastor Kong has said today.
City Harvest strength is not in its size or strength but it is in the education, creativity and character of our people likewise in our cell group.
Lets start our year right!
For 2009, lets commit ourselves to achieve this 5 important goals!

1. Prayer
- Lets commit to pray at least half and hour everyday.

2. Ministry
- Lets starting serving in a ministry if you have not and use your abilities to serve more in cell group this year.

3. Evangelism
- Lets reach out to as many of our friends this year.

4. Discipleship
- Lets press into our leaders more for discipleship.

5. Fellowship
- Lets avail ourselves more to spend more time with one another.

Finally, what is discipleship?
Discipleship comes from the word discipline.
It means that it is a processed that your values will be challenged, your attitude will be fined-tuned and your character will be developed.

You might be wondering what this post's about right? Hee. Was just listening to the Sermon On The Mount CD on the power of brokenness whilst studying. In the CD, Pastor Kong preached about David. A little something about David to share with you guys (sry that it's a little long but do read on! It's pretty interesting!)

Life of King David.

Many remember David as the fair-haired shepherd boy who defeated a giant named Goliath. Others recall David as the wise Jewish ruler who brought the tribes of Israel together as a united nation. The ancient texts also present David as a powerful warrior, cunning diplomat, and talented musician. However, with all these tremendous accolades, the foundation of David’s fame and faith can be traced to a period of severe trial and doubting in his life.

Early in his journey, David was chosen to succeed Saul as the king of Judah. Although Saul was initially impressed by David’s skills as a soldier, politician, and musician, Saul became wary of his successor, so he put out a contract on David’s life. David was forced to live on the run, often spending weeks hiding in the network of caves surrounding the Dead Sea.

It is here that David really began asking the tough questions of life. Alone in the dark or on the run through enemy territory, David opened-up and honestly shared his thoughts, struggles, and fears. David was frustrated with God’s plan for his life, and he wrote about it in his prayer journals. Although Saul stopped at nothing to kill David, David never followed through on his opportunities to kill Saul. David’s years alone with God forged his exemplary character and unflinching faith. Through loneliness and struggle, David learned to be fully dependent on God.

When Saul finally died in an unrelated battle, David returned to Judah and claimed his position as king over Judah in 1009 BC. Seven years later, the northern tribes of Israel accepted him as king and he became ruler of a united Jewish nation until his death in 969 BC. David wasn’t a perfect leader or a perfect man, but his years alone with God, humbled and crumbled in the dark, developed the soul of a legendary king, and forged a legacy that endures to this day.

Whereas most of us look for happiness based on external circumstances in our lives, David has discovered a deeper joy grounded in his inner self. Most of us strive for happiness that’s external and temporary. David teaches us to drive towards a place of deeper well-being, where we develop trust and hope in God that extends beyond our external realities.

David has learned that happiness and joy are different things. Happiness is that fleeting state of emotion that’s dependent on doing. However, joy is a long-term process of the mind that’s dependent on being. For David, it’s the seasons of trial and suffering -- chaos and confusion -- that ultimately develop deeper and more profound joy. The key is to know God as your internal compass.

Maybe during this Asia Conference you've been touched by the presence of God, maybe you were not. But why do people cry and get touched during such conferences? What gives us the strength to overcome our weaknesses? The answer's brokenness and spiritual hunger guys. It's ok if we've heard some of the messages before or do not fully understand all the messages, believe that just as long as we are truly hungry and broken before God, He can and He will do mighty things through this CG and every single one of us! However, before God can do anything through us, we must make a choice to put our life on the altar before God. We either live our own dream or God's dream. Lets be strong on the outside but broken on the inside ya?

Whatever it is that God has spoken, He will accomplish it. Lets trust that as we work hard, God will give us 50 by dec ya!

Lets be like David. A leader, a life changer, a true lover of God.

organised outings like movies, meals, gaming, cooking, etc. And many of the teams have had good reports to share!

(Exo 6:1-3; God made a covenant with Issac, Abraham, Jacob revealed to them that He is A More than Enough God who supplies abundance!)

(Exo 3:13-14; God revealed to Moses that He is I AM=Jehovah=Redeemer!)

(Matt 19: 1-8; It shows how Jesus look at each circumstances! Jesus always look at GOD's ORIGINAL INTENTION of each circumstances! The verses show, Matt 19:4 "...at the beginning" Matt 19:8 "...from the beginning...")

Thus, let's not stay at the shallow level of christianity! Move to the deeper revelation!
WHAT'S GOD'S ORIGINAL INTENTION?

God is the creator of EVERYTHING thus as a christian we should activate the power of creativity through God and, transform the situation! Typical Christian always cry out to the Lord, "Help me! Save me! Redeem me!" But they never understand God's power of creativity that can work in us!

Do you believe in a God who has more than enough? If we said YES, then don't let your own belief limit God! Even though there's ongoing recession right now, are you living in fear and anxiety? OR you choose to believe you serve a God who has no shortage and no scarcity? For example, RIGHT NOW, Every 53 seconds -> 1 millionaire is born! The question? Why can't it be us? when we're anointed, serving a God who gave us power to create wealth?

Secret to success? An example Pst Kong showed, ISSAC.
In Genesis 26:1-4, 12 God told Issac not to stay in Egypt but move to Gerrar. Why? Egypt was a place which represented LIMITATIONS while Gerrar was part of The Promised Land!

#1 Build an altar; Place God FIRST in everything you do!
#2 Pitched his tent; Issac took care of his family. Yes, it's true. You can't have a successful career without a strong relationship with your family.

Some food for thought as we come to the last quarter of the year.

If we judge what we value by our circumstances, we will de-value what is important to give value to what is momentary - Pst Tan (i wished it was me who came out with this slogan, but not so smart...yet! haha)

So true huh. Sometimes if you think about it, have we really valued things which we hold now based on our current circumstances...instead of looking at what is really important, or rather knowing what God knows is important for us?

Have we hold onto some things we desire so much based on our circumstances, that we can't let go and let God? Let's not miss out on the best, in our pursuit for the good.

I pray for everyone of YOU, to be able to end of the year not just achieving your goals & dreams...but to be able to do so HAPPILY with the joy of the Lord :)

Have been thinking about the alphabet these past few days (kinda back to school?).

Well, just had the thought of the vowel qualities that we should have as we are nearing the end of 2008!

Yeah, the VOWELS, as in A E I O U.

A - Ambition

One of the definitions for ambition is to have a strong drive for success. I hope that everyone would go forth into this last lap of 2008 doing our best and achieving the targets that we have set for ourselves at the beginning of the year, and also those that we have added along the way. Know that one of the most important things is just not to give up and continue persevering throughout all difficulties. Many of you are having your EOY-exams coming up, so do your best, study hard, and SHINE FOR GOD.

E - Energy

We all need the energy to go through this last lap! It's also a reminder not to get too caught up in work and forget all about playtime! Take some time off each day (not too much... LIMIT LIMIT!!!) to do something fun and relaxing. Allow your body and mind to refresh so that they'll be able to work efficiently. Feeling lethargic? Take some time off to pray! It's super-effective!

I - Inspiring

Inspire others to perform better through guidance and at the same time, encouraging them as well. As we bring others up to a higher level, we get to see many new and different things happening in our lives, and in our CG as well! Make people feel good about themselves through praising them for a job well done, and encouraging them when they are facing tough times and feeling down. Let them know that there will always be people around them who will share their troubles and run the race with them. This is where we get to see people rising up above their capabilities!

O - Organization/Opportunity

We've been through so many changes here and there, but change is always for the better. Look forward, organize our time and also the many other different things in our lives, and who knows, we might just find that things are so much easier to do, and also, more importantly, there will definitely be an increase in the amount of time we have in our hands as our time gets multiplied! Also, make full use of the opportunities ahead of you to do your best and achieve the sweet fruits of success!

U - Unity

Teamwork is one of the most important parts of working together. Being united in thought and action will see things being done effectively and efficiently. Likewise, we might fall and get hurt badly sometimes, but we can also lean on our Father, our Almighty God, for strength to finish this race!
